Michiel Van Der Heijden has over 15 years of experience in the STM publishing industry and has held various roles in product technology, product development and business development. His most recent role at industry-leading publisher Springer Nature was VP Business Development, managing a team of product owners, responsible for all institutional academic, government & corporate journals business models, Prior, Michiel worked at another STM publishing giant, Elsevier in various product management roles. Michiel received his Masters in Industrial Design Engineering in 1996 from the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands, specializing in Business & Product Development.
During the last 14 years at Springer (and since 2015 Springer Nature) Chris has worked in Editorial, Product and Business Development roles, with a focus on Springer Nature’s fastest growing sectors including: regional expansion, open access, corporate markets and data services. One of his current projects is developing the infrastructure and business models to enable SMEs to benefit from the potential of AI powered data mining of STM content in similar ways as major companies do. Chris came to Springer after a postdoc in geochemistry and a focus on gold exploration. While no longer an active researcher, his work at Springer Nature supports researchers everywhere.
